We all have guilty pleasures and I will get right to the point. One of mine is I LOVE romantic comedies. I have to admit, this was much harder than I thought it would be. So I have comprised a list of the best five from a guys guy perspective. I will list them starting with #5 and give it a score out of 10 while including a short description of my thought process. Here goes.

#5: Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011)

Anytime a movie includes Steve Carell, I am all for it. He is the perfect nerdy middle aged Dad character. He plays “Cal” who has the perfect life until he finds out his wife is cheating on him and wants a divorce. Enter Ryan Gosling who plays Jacob. He takes Cal under his wing to help him with the ladies. The two gel to create not only pure comedy but a good theme to the movie. That when you find the one, nothing else matters despite the type of person you were in the past. What I would have liked more was a better supporting cast. They get lost for much of the film.

Score: 8.3/10

#4: Crazy Rich Asians (2018)

This is the most recent “rom com” on the list and probably one of the best overall movies I have seen in recent time. The expanded cast and supporting characters is what makes this movie great. Even the villain Rachel Chu’s mother was awesome. The film made me laugh, cry, there was suspense and mouth opening moments. Not only did the film make history being an all asian cast, it made history as one of the best films of 2018. It had the perfect length allowing full character development, the quality script to play out, and for the pictures to look so good in numerous parts of the continent. The only aspect I did not like was the proposal at the end. cliche.

Score: 8.6/10

#3: Wedding Crashers (2005)

Now this movie is every guys favorite. Wedding Crashers had such a good cast along with laughs throughout the film. Vince Vaughn is one of my favorites so I was already sold. Nobody could have been a better supporting character as Owen Wilson was. The best part of the movie are the constant jabs and one liners between both main characters. Then throw Will Ferrell into the mix which creates the perfect concoction of laughs. I did not care for Rachel McAdams who played “Claire”. She was boring and didn’t add much significance to the film in my mind.

Score: 8.8/10

#2: Someone Great (2019)

I went a bit unconventional with this next pick. Someone Great is a Netflix movie that I came across when I had nothing else to watch. It was one of those nights. I later found myself locked into the plot of this film. Sure the jokes were good with a nice supporting cast of two girlfriends living in New York, but the plot could be felt by all of us. Fall in love, think you’ll be together forever, then a career opportunity arises and ruins the entire relationship. It made me laugh, cry, and yell at my television. The only feature I did not enjoy was it ended. From the beginning to the end it was tremendous, but then it ends.

Score: 9.0/10

#1: No String Attached (2011)

No Strings Attached inspired me to create this list. THIS MOVIE WAS HILARIOUS. Yes there were other flaws that could have been fixed, but from a pure comedy look at it, nothing better in my mind. Ashton Kucher and Natalie Portman were awesome together. It was funny, hot, and emotionalllllll. I have nothing bad to say about this movie, maybe its because I just watched it last week, but were not going to talk about that.

Score: 9.5/10

That’s my list. If you disagree I don’t care but be sure to let me know if I was on the map or not even close.
