NFL Draft Day is upon us and I should be writing a post on the Los Angeles Rams draft picks and the amazing players we’re gonna pick up tonight…but since we don’t even have a pick in the first round and the picks we do have are trash, here we are.

On March 23rd, 2020 the Los Angeles Rams debuted the long-awaited new logo.

People (aka Twitter) were pissed. Full disclosure— I was not one of them. I did not immediately hate the new logo. I was, and probably still am, at best undecided. Although I was not impressed by the new logo, I was not as upset as a lot of my fellow Rams fans. I was scrolling through Twitter that day reading everyone’s reactions and to say they were not happy is an understatement. This guy was ready to throw hands…

I mean, even Rams legend Eric Dickerson had some opinions:

To play devil’s advocate, I see both sides.

I agree in the disappointment. The new logo is mediocre at best. It is not what we deserved. The logo was leaked online before the official debut and even then people were hoping it was a joke. It was not. It’s crazy to think that there was two years of planning and designing for the new logo and mediocrity is what we get? The Rams are in Los Angeles now, the new logo needed to be amazing, it needed to be impressive, and it needed to show out. I can acknowledge that this did not happen.

In defense of the Rams organization, I can see the vision they were shooting for. Their was a slight miss, but I see it. I am a fan of the color changes however.

I have always been a fan of the throwback colors. Any time the Rams were playing in throwbacks, I was here for it. The old navy blue and gold or the navy blue with white did not do it for me. The one jersey I currently own is in the throwback colors. ( I currently own one, Aaron Donald, because he is a BEAST, and everyone should own his jersey, end of discussion.) The new colors are reminiscent of the throwback but with a new spin, and I am here for it.

The launch of the new logo really had LA Vibes to it and that was pretty sick.

The palm tress, the beach, the Los Angeles skyline, incredibly smart marketing move. Now, I’m an Orange County girl through and through but LA is kind of a big deal around the world, and the Rams are now a part of that. Including these details in the marketing released was a great nod to the city they now represent.

All in all, I’m excited for the new colors. The new “LA” logo with the horn is trash. There is really no going back from that one or defending that one. The Ram face with the horns I don’t hate and is the one I am choosing to move forward with. In the wise words of another great Rams legend:

Good news is tonight we Rams fans and football fans alike don’t have to worry about seeing the logo too much. Bad news, were still waiting for the new Los Angeles Rams uniforms to be released…
