As the football world has heard by now, yesterday the Los Angeles Rams traded Wide Receiver Brandin Cooks and a fourth-round pick to the Houston Texans for a second-round draft pick. I’m shocked and disappointed and I don’t know what to think anymore. The trades and all the players the Rams have lost or let go this off-season has been nothing but disappointment for this Rams fan. We’re letting our whole team go, and the worst part is I don’t see what for? I can’t seem to grasp the vision that Les Snead and Sean McVay are working for.

At only 26 years old, Cooks was a solid player for the Rams. The trio of wide receivers, Cooks, Woods, and Kupp, were the driving scoring force on the team and they definitely made games fun to watch. I can admit that last season wasn’t his greatest, but the guy suffered two concussions in a single season and still managed to get back on the field and play for his team. Cooks ended his 2019 season with 42 receptions for 583 yards and only two touchdowns, his lowest totals since entering the NFL. Even then, he was a solid player and I am definitely bummed to see him go. I truly believe that he has some solid seasons ahead of him and I hope he lands somewhere that will appreciate his talent and skill (I don’t think the Texans is it, but that’s a whole other story). The guy deserves it, I mean he’s been traded so many times the poor dude is probably starting to doubt himself.

Just ask this guy:

The reality is that Brandin Cooks wasn’t the greatest player the Rams had. But he was a decent wide receiver and with the contract extension he received in 2018 cutting him doesn’t really save the team a whole lot of money. Especially, when we owe some people some money…

I don’t know what the plan is for next season or what the goal is, and I don’t pretend to know better than Les Snead or Sean McVay or any of the other people who are in charge of trades and releasing players. But as a fan, I’m concerned, because Jared Goff definitely cannot save us.

Brandin Cooks WR, gone. Greg Zurlein K, gone. Mike Thomas WR, gone. JoJo Natson WR/PR, gone. Dante Fowler Jr OLB, gone. Cory Littleton LB, gone. Nickell Robey-Coleman CB, gone. Todd Gurley RB, gone.

The 2020 season is looking a bit scary.
